How can I add symbols and  lines to a bar graph?

Make your graph as a two-grouping-variable category graph (X and Y symbols, but labels on the X axis).

Then change one of the series of symbols to the spike or bar symbol.

In order to align the symbols, use the new "nudge" feature to move one set of symobls over by -0.1 and the other the other direction by 0.1. This means they don't overlap.
