Why can't Greek letters in Prism be bold?

When you display Greek letters in Prism using the Insert Character button, Prism uses the Symbol font that comes with both Windows and Mac. This font provides a full Greek alphabet, but does not provide a bold rendition of the Greek characters. Since Prism relies on this font, it can't make Greek bold.

A workaround would be to use another font that does provide bold Greek characters. Just beware than using other fonts might create compatibility problems when you move the file to a different computer, and especially when  you cross platforms (windows vs. mac).

On Macs, use the Insert Character viewer tool which appears in the right part of the top menu. If that tool isn't there, open Preferences, go to Keyboard, and check the option to show the Character Viewer. You'll be able to select a palette of Greek characters, and insert them into a text object or title in Prism. You'll then be able to make the character bold.

We have not been able to find a similar work around in Windows.
