KNOWLEDGEBASE - ARTICLE #665

When we use a network version, all works well at first. But gradually, the available number of licenses seems to dwindle and then Prism gives messages that all licenses are in use.

To reset the licensing counting mechanism, purge all files from the Licenses folder within the Prism (or InStat) folder. When Prism starts up, it looks at existing license files in that folder. It considers the license in use if the file exists and it is open by another instance of the program. Normally, this mechanism works fine. When Prism closes, the network knows that it no longer is responsible for the license file. But one customer, running a unix server, found that Prism got confused about the number of licenses actually in use. Purging all files from the License folder solved the problem. Prism recreated those files as needed.
