KNOWLEDGEBASE - ARTICLE #429

When I try to export a layout at high resolution for publication, Prism displays a "Not enough memory..." message.

Creating a full-page layout at 1200 dots per inch (dpi) takes a lot of RAM, but that's rarely necessary. A publisher typically requires 1200 dpi only at final publication size. They won't fill a page with your two-graph layout, but rather will reduce it, to perhaps to an eighth of a page. To solve the problem, you can:
  • Reduce your layout to publication size, then export at 1200 dpi.
  • Export at a lower resolution, knowing that the effective resolution will go up when the graph is made smaller (e.g., if they will reduce the height and width by 50%, then a graph exported at 600 dpi is effectively 1200 dpi).
