When I copy a graph created with Prism 4 Mac (OS 8-9) to the clipboard (or export as a PICT file) and then paste (or import) into another program, angled text (and vertical text) appears twice (angled/vertical and horizontal).
Prism 4 offers two ways to render angled text, as a bitmap or as fonts. The default is bitmap, as this is more compatible with more programs. But using fonts gives better looking text in most cases. However some Mac OS 8-9 programs (such as Picture Viewer, PowerPoint 2001, and Graphic Converter 4.0) do not open angled fonts correctly, but instead show the text twice (angled and horizontal).
In some programs (including PowerPoint 2001) you can fix the problem by ungrouping the graph. But this won't solve the problem for all programs.
If your program cannot properly import (or paste) angled text as fonts, you should configure Prism to render angled fonts as bitmaps instead. This is a choice on the Export dialog. To change the method Prism uses when copying a graph (or layout) to the Clipboard, open Prism Preferences from the Edit menu, go to the Graph tab and choose to copy vertical text as a Bitmap.
Note that this problem with angled text occurs with Mac OS 8-9 programs only. OSX programs tend to import angled text correctly. If you only use OSX (and don't share Pict files with people use use OS 8-9), choose to render text as fonts. And if you are looking for an excuse to switch to OS X, this might be it!!
