What is the largest data table you can create with Prism and InStat?

Prism 9:

  • The maximum number of data set columns is 1024
  • The maximum number of side-by-side subcolumns is 512. if you are doing repeated measures ANOVA, and each subcolumn represents a different subject, then the limit is 512 subjects
  • The number of rows is essentially unlimited (limited only by RAM and disk space)
  • Each Prism project can contain up to 500 of each sheet type (data tables, results, graphs, layouts)

Prism 6 - 8:

  • The maximum number of data set columns is 256
  • The maximum number of  side-by-side subcolumn is 256. If you are doing repeated-measures ANOVA, and each subcolumn represents a different subject, then the limit is 256 subjects.
  • The number of rows is essentially unlimited. Hundreds of thousands of rows work fine. Over a million rows ought to work.
  • The maximum number of data tables (or results pages, graphs, layouts) in a project is 500.

Prism 5 :

  • The maximum number of data set columns is 104
  • The maximum number of  side-by-side subcolumn is 52. If you are doing repeated-measures ANOVA, and each subcolumn represents a different subject, then the limit is 52 subjects.
  • The number of rows is essentially unlimited. Hundreds of thousands of rows work fine. Over a million rows ought to work.

Prism 4: 104 data sets, each with up to 52 side-by-side replicates. The number of rows is limited by a limit of 10,000 values per data set. That allowed 10,000 rows for data sets with single Y values, 1000 rows for data sets with ten side-by-side replicates, etc.

Prism 3: Prism is limited to 52 data sets per table, and the capacity of each data set is 10,000 values divided by the number of replicates or subcolumns. That is, if you format the table for single Y values, then you can have up to 10,000 values in each data set. But if you format the table for entry of triplicates (or entry of mean, SD and N) then you are limited to a little more than 3000 points.

InStat 3.0: 26 columns, 1,000 rows.

InStat 3.1:  52 columns, 10,000 rows
