Unable to Open Prism File when Number of Sheets Exceeds Sheet Limit
What is the issue?
Prism currently has a limit of 500 sheets of any given type (data, results, info, graphs, layouts) within a single Prism file. Users may encounter a critical issue when trying to open a file that contains more sheets than this limit, making it impossible to open the file.
What causes this issue?
Normally, it should not be possible to create more than 500 sheets of any given type within a Prism file. However, there were some issues in earlier versions of Prism (that have subsequently been fixed) that could lead to this situation:
- The limit could be exceeded by duplicating a family of sheets, causing the resulting number of sheets in one section to be greater than 500 (Fixed in Prism 10.2.0)
- The limit could be exceeded by performing an analysis that generates multiple graph sheets, causing the resulting number of graphs to be greater than 500 (Fixed in Prism 10.4.0)
How do I avoid this issue?
- Update to the latest version of Prism. The issues that we've identified that could cause a file to contain more sheets than the limit have been fixed in Prism version 10.4.0 and newer. These fixes prevent graphs from being created if they would exceed the limit, effectively resolving this issue
- If you cannot update Prism, avoid creating too many sheets in a single project. If necessary, create new projects for different parts of your work
