Trying to run Prism 4 or Prism 5 for Mac, it crashes on startup with a type 3 error

When Prism starts, it tries to open any automatic backup files (.pzb files) if it can find them. These are used to recover from a crash. But if those files are corrupted, they can prevent Prism from starting.

Here is one thing to try:  Locate the Prism automatic backup files (files that end with .pzb) from the preferences folder, and drag them to the trash and empty the trash. Then try restarting Prism.

Prism 5 Mac

Look in the folder: : ~[local user]:Library:Preferences:Prism backups

Prism Mac 3 or 4

Look in the folder(s)

  • Mac OS 8, 9: In the Preferences folder within the System folder
  • Mac OS X: ~[local user]:Library:Preferences

Keywords: Mac crash error type 3
