KNOWLEDGEBASE - ARTICLE #902

I am having trouble fitting the operational model described in Chapter 42 of Fitting Models to Biological Data using Linear and Nonlinear Regression.

The first printing of that book has incorrect equations for the operational model.

On page 270 (receptor depletion) the equation should read like this:

operate= (((10^logKA)+(10^X))/(10^(logtau+X)))^n

Y=Basal + (Effectmax-Basal)/(1+operate)

On page 273 (partial agonists), the equation should read like this:

In both equations, the intermediate variable operate should not be an exponent of 10. And the printed version of the second equation lacked a set of parentheses in the second line.

The examples in the book are correct. Those sample results were calculated with the correct equation, but the incorrect equations mistakenly got included in the first printing of the book.
