KNOWLEDGEBASE - ARTICLE #37

How can I make each point on my graph a different color or shape, but fit a curve to all the points?

Enter the data twice, once to graph the data points, and once to produce the regression line.
  1. Enter all your data in one Y column for performing the regression analysis. Perform the analysis.
  2. Reenter the data on a second table, putting each Y value in a different column and a different row. In other words, the Y values go diagonally down the page.
  3. Prism will make a graph of this table with different symbols for each point. Notice that the one-data-set/one-symbol rule is preserved.
  4. Click "Change...", then "Add Data Sets..." (Prism 4) or "Data on graph..." (earlier versions). Assign the regression line (or curve) to the graph.
