Graph tip - combine points with a shaded range

This example shows how to format a data set as a shaded range.

How to do it:

Start by creating an XY data table. Check that you will enter the upper and lower limits for your error bars.

Enter your data sets. Use one data set to for the area you want to be shaded on your graph. If you don't actually have values for the mean, enter something there anyway to get the data set to show on your graph. We will hide those later.

Your graph will look something like this.

Double-click on any symbol to open the Format Graph dialog. Find the data set that you want to use for shading.

Uncheck the box to show symbols. Choose to format the error bars as a solid line, and say you want to show area fill within the error bands.

Double-click on a symbol again to open the Format Graph dialog and go to the Data sets on Graph tab. Use the nudge feature to offset one of the data sets so they won't overlap.

Nudge one set +0.10 and one set -0.10 to center the symbols on the axis ticks.

Double-click on the X axis to open the Format Axes dialog. Use the Additional tick section to add custom labels.

Use Prism's drawing and text tools to add capped lines and labels.
