Every time Prism Windows starts, an alert comes up: Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?
Message refers to Prism.exe
This section applies to all releases of Prism 5 and 6. for 32 or 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, but only if the alert refers to Prism.exe
To get rid of this message, you'll need to change the settings of the UAC (User Account Control).
- Click the Start button in the lower left of the screen.
- Choose Control panel in the right pane.
- Choose Action Center.
- Click: Security.
- Under User Account Control, click: Change Settings.
- Slide the setting down to a setting that notifies you less frequently. This makes your computer a bit less secure, but more useable, since you won't see so many alerts.
Also note that it is essential that Prism run once with Admin rights, so it can change the registry and set up some needed files. After that first launch as an admin, Prism can run in a ordinary (non admin) user's account.
Message reffers to Prism 5 Update Client
The Prism 5 update client is what Prism 5 uses to check if there is a Prism update available.
One way to remove this message is to turn the UAC completely off ("never notify"), as explained above. An easier way to solve the problem is to tell Prism 5 to stop checking for updates. Prism 5.04 is the last release of Prism 5, so there is no need to check for updates again if you have that release. In Prism, go to Preferences, then to the Internet tab and turn off the option to check for updates.
