Choices for survival curve format don't stick

Prism 5 lets you change the properties of  a survival curve in two places:

  • In the third ("Graph Settings") tab for the Format Graph dialog. Double click on the graph to bring this up.
  • In the analysis parameters dialog. Use Change... Analysis parameters to bring it up.

Prism is supposed to keep those two settings the same -- change one and the other changes as well.

In rare cases,  especially with Prism 5 Mac, the two settings can conflict. The result is that the graph seems to have a mind of its own. Error bars come and go. The  curve flips from downhill (survival) to uphill (deaths). Your choices don't stick, which can be quite frustrating.

It is easy to tame the graph. Go to each of the dialogs mentioned above, and make the same choices on both. Now the graph into obeying your choices.
