Can Prism 3 open my Prism 4 files? Can Prism 4 open my Prism 3 files?

Prism 4 can open files created by all prior versions of Prism (the ability to open Prism 1 files was added in release 4.02).

However prior versions of Prism cannot open Prism 4 files, since Prism 4 saves files in a new format. Why a new format? Because Prism 4 allows for more rows, more columns, more subcolumns, and more sheets. Prism 4 also offers new analyses (ROC curves, Bland-Altman Plots), major new options in curve fitting (global curve fits, new kinds of comparisons) and can make new kinds of graphs. There simply is no way to allow Prism 4 to include all these new features (the list is much longer) and also allow Prism 3 to open Prism 4 files. For the same reason, it was not possible for us to program Prism 4 to save files in Prism 3 format.

Even if your colleagues don't own Prism 4, they can view and print Prism 4 files using a free Prism viewer. Download the Prism viewer here. The viewer is free, does not expire, and lets anyone open Prism files, view all the contents (including analysis choices), and print selected pages. Your colleagues may also want to use the Prism 4 demo, which is fully featured and works for 30 days.
