Bug: The Simulate Data With Random Scatter analysis can lose its link to X values from a data table.

When you run the "simulate data with random scatter" analysis in Prism 5, you can choose to either generate a series of X values from choices you make within the dialog or you can use X values from a data table (the table you were looking at when you clicked analyze).  If you decide to use X values from a data table, you may encounter a bug that is present in all releases of Prism 5 Windows (up to 5.04) but not in the Mac versions.  The bug is that if that data table has only X values, and no Y values, Prism can lose the link.

Everything works fine when you first analyze the data. But when you go to change the parameters, and click OK, Prism gives the message "The linked data table has no values".  At that point, you seem to be stuck.

The problem only occurs when the linked data table has X values and all the Y columns have no values at all. The work around is simple: Enter a value (or a few values) into the Y column. As soon as there is a single value in a Y column, everything will work fine.

You don't have to reanalyze the data. Just go back and add a Y value to the table. Then you'll be able to change parameters on the existing analyses.
