After nonlinear regression, can I see the best-fit line as a table of X, Y coordinates?
Prism 5
Prism 5 can create a table of XY coordinates that define the curve and confidence bands (or prediction bands). Prism 5 only creates this table if you ask for it:
- Go to the Range tab of the nonlinear regression dialog.
- Check the option to create a table of XY coordinates. Choose how many points you want to see. This choice only affects the extra table you are creating, and will not affect how the curve appears within Prism.
- Note that you can also adjust the minimum and maximum X values of the curve here. If you change the range of X values, you'll affect both how Prism plots the curve and the range of X values included in the new table.
- When viewing the results, expand the results sheet in the navigator and go to the page labeled 'Curve'. You'll see a list of XY coordinates of points that define the curve.
- If you chose (diagnostics tab) to plot prediction or confidence bands, these are also tabulated as distances the confidence or prediction curve is above and below that value.
Older Versions
From the nonlinear regression parameters dialog, click the "Output" button (ver 3) or tab (ver 4). In the resulting dialog, check the option to show the table of XY coordinates.
Prism 3 and 4 use this table (even if hidden) to plot curves. If you change the number of line segments generated, you'll affect the plotted curve as well.
