After exporting a graph or layout as a TIF file, how can I view that file to see that it is OK.

Use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.

Drop the "Insert" menu, then choose "Picture ... From file".

Note that your computer monitor has a lot less than 1200 dpi, so Word (or any program) has to make decisions about how to display the file. High-resolution TIFF images can look grainy on a monitor, but great when printed.
