Multiple variables graphs

For most graphs that Prism creates, the structure of the data table and the location of the data within the data table determine where data end up on the graph. In contrast, Prism creates Multiple Variables graphs by assigning different variables within the data set to different aspects of the graph. The easiest and fastest way to customize your Multiple Variables graph is to use the Graph Inspector. This panel of controls exposes all of the most common controls for graph customization and allows you to make changes in real-time without having to work in a separate dialog.

However, if you're used to working with a format graph dialog or simply prefer this approach, you can still customize your Multiple Variables graphs in this way. The following sections describe each of the components of the Format Graph dialog, and how different variable assignments may affect the corresponding visual components of the graph.
