InStat system requirements

  • Windows version – 486 or better, Windows 3.1 or higher, 4Mb RAM, 3Mb free hard disk space.
  • Macintosh version – OSX 10.3 (Panther) or higher and 4Mb free hard disk space. InStat 3.0 Mac is a native OS X (carbon) application.

Cross platform compatible

InStat 3.0 is available both for Macintosh and Windows. The two versions are very similar. You can open files created on one platform on the other platform with no special conversion. The program has almost identical interfaces on the two platforms, so you can switch back and forth with virtually no learning curve.

InStat 3 vs InStat 2

New analyses:
Now available for both Windows and Macintosh, version 3 of InStat introduces several new features not available in InStat version 2. Most important are:
  • Normality testing
  • Multiple regression
  • Correlation matrix
  • Sensitivity and specificity of a test

New features:
We focussed on making InStat even easier to use, and providing even more statistical review. The online help has been completely rewritten, offering more guidance to help pick a test, and more extensive interpretation of the results. InStat 3.0 now includes analysis checklists to help you make sure you have chosen an appropriate test. We also included:

  • More data transforms
  • Combine (i.e. add or subtract) columns to create new columns
  • Paste transpose
  • Exclude values from analyses while keeping them on the data table
  • More choices for importing and exporting data
  • Open up to ten files at one time

InStat 3.0 Mac
InStat 3.0 Mac was redesigned to follow the newest Apple interface guidelines and to be compatible with InStat 3.0 Windows. While InStat 2.0 Mac was written for the older Apple 68k processor, InStat 3.0 Mac was written for the PowerPC chip, and includes special features for OS X. Due to this redesign, InStat 3.0 Mac cannot open files created by InStat 2.0 Mac. You can transfer data by launching both programs, and using copy/paste.
